Assistant Camp Program Director

Camp Director, Program Director This position is part of the general camp supervision and management team and is primarily responsible for overseeing the initial and continuous training and management of all counselors-in-training (CITs).
As these needs are fulfilled and/or as other work becomes more important, this person may also fill in for absent counselors or where another staff member is needed; assist with administrative or organizational work; and provide mentorship to junior counselors.
This is a full-time job beginning Monday, May 29, 2023 and ending Friday, August 4, 2023, with some responsibilities outside of regular work hours.
Responsibilities:
Plan, lead and implement the Counselor-in-Training orientation and trainings with the Camp Director and Program Director.
Prepare CIT resources for initial training and continuous professional development.
Each week, assign CITs new duties.
Assist counselors with camper conflict resolution and, when appropriate, mediate conflict resolution between campers.
Address camper behavior problems when observed, or when asked to do so by counselors and Counselors-in-Training.
This may include consultation with the Program Director and/or Camp Director.
Fill in for absent counselors or when other staff are fulfilling other responsibilities.
At least once each session, observe and evaluate each volunteer for the duration of a class period and then provide constructive feedback during a formal follow-up meeting.
Update social media accounts, yearly, (if needed) and manage social media photos during camp season.
Be CPR/AED/First Aid certified, as well as lifeguard certified and use these skills when needed.
This training can be provided by the camp.
Daily tasks:
Ensure all volunteers are performing their responsibilities in accordance with Camp Riverlea's mission and standards of conduct.
Each day, visit all departments and provide volunteers with informal constructive feedback, support, and encouragement.
Maintain and build upon good rapport with everyone.
Check in with other camp leaders to plan, organize, and prepare for upcoming events/days/weeks/sessions.
Address and support Counselor-in-Training and camper questions and concerns.
Qualifications:
Previous summer camp and/or teen leadership experience, including an understanding of teen developmental and social needs.
Strong desire and ability to inspire and motivate teens.
Outstanding professional communication, interpersonal, and teamwork skills, including conflict prevention, management, and resolution.
Good character, sense of humor, leadership abilities, patience, persistence, and calmness.
Ability to self-motivate and work independently in a fast-paced, noisy indoor/outdoor environment (this requires healthy levels of physical strength, flexibility, and endurance).
Ability to work well under pressure, to improvise, to think quickly, critically, and soundly as new circumstances or problems arise, including the ability to solve problems quickly, logically, thoughtfully, and completely, all while taking multiple perspectives into consideration.
Organized, detail-oriented, and ability to juggle multiple projects simultaneously without becoming overwhelmed.
Current certification in child and adult First Aid, CPR, as well as certification in bloodborne pathogens.
Camp Riverlea is a day camp for children entering Kindergarten to 7th grade that offers activities to campers from the Durham/Chapel Hill area.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
